Art was a rediscovery on how to discover. So much comes so fast in the so-called real world. But the reality is that the impulse to create gets squeezed out of many. Painting has become a way of letting myself be squeezed and not be scared to see what comes forth.
The agreement that I have with myself and the creating is that whatever comes forth must be put on the canvas--no exceptions. The process of layering paint and texture serves as a reversal of all the layers that I have caked on myself. Judging and being judged causes pain---so the process and materials are a way of being held accountable to the discovery, remembrance and practice of what is really within. Then you have decisions to make.
